Discrimination for at least disability. Several staff disrespectfull, dumb opinionated lazy shifty eyed.
Booked 7 nights. I am being treated for breast cancer very much in need for a quick getaway before my next stage. Three days before arriving I requested a lower bed as my hands and arms hurt/weak from side effects.And w a frozen shoulder an upper bed is impossible. Received no response, emailed a different address. In response was told I could "book a private room". When finally WOTnomad replied " we cannot guarantee a lower bed as they are in high demand". Cancer alone is a disability.EU law on anti discrimination adjustments must be made. These replies already proved discrimination. I should've cancelled when I received no response. Arriving that eve I guess no lower bed available in the room I booked (although I had checked in in the morning online) Was placed in a room with less beds and assigned a lower bed. Ok adjustment made but then... About a dozen people present in the reception area as part of staff but only ONE person is actually working, too many are doing nothing and some of them shifty eyed standing about showing their disaproval of their guests existence looking you out the door. The bathroom was not cleaned for 5 days. Day 4 it ran out of toilet paper. After asking 4 times and still no toilet paper I took the roll from the downstairs toilet.[When that ran out I had to go downstairs again and stay until I was given.] Next morning after waking up my pillow and blanket had been replaced with unclean ones. The pillow had no pillow case and I had to again request several times. FInally I got case and sheet only because that girl at reception Sunday 15/3 eve was the only staff with integrity even covering up for disrespectfull, dumb opinionated lazy shifty eyed staff saying that "they were not on duty". I say then they should not be there. On my arrival 17/3 in the eve the guy didn't tell me abou the work space area and outdoor area or that there was a pool. I sat down in what I thought the only communal area available next to reception working on my computer. It filled with cigarette smoke from people smoking in the doorway getting too noisy to work on computer.To escape the smoke I sat at the farthest point in the breakfast area. 15/3, day 5 a staff told me I could not sit there as it was reserved for an event. I explained I was escaping the smoke. He then should've informed me of the quiet and smoke free work space area but instead he said that I could sit in a space where I could be away from smoke. This space was underground walking down from the reception into an empty spooky dark cold uninviting bar with no people ,no light and only one visible outlet. Said the space was not accessible for guests and made it look like he was giving me special treatment.Said he would "check on me " a little later?!? Stressed and exhausted I went to my room to eat my desert despite food not allowed. The girl at reception 15/3 left her position to come up to 4th floor and inform me about the common work space. Afrika pretended to accomodate me with a smile after I informed him of my disability but was in fact an obvious act of discrimination. Disgusting. Over 25 years I stayed in many hostels in many countries and cities while traveling. Never EVER have I been discriminated at any of these. I am disgusted about how I was treated by several staff. They deprived me of the rest and peace I so desperately needed and after only three days in amazing city of Lisbon I just wanted to go home. ALL staff but this one girl should be fired. An official complaint for discrimination will be lodged
