The best time to book a summer holiday depends on your flexibility. Seeing as summer is a popular time to go away, it probably isn’t worth the risk waiting to see if the prices go down nearer the time – prices are more likely to go up.

If you’re not set on dates, airports or destinations, then booking later can unlock more value. There are still good deals over the summer period, as hotels and airlines drop the prices of any products that haven’t sold out yet. So, if you’re prepared to travel last minute, it can be worth seeing what the cheapest deal departing in a few weeks is. 

Yes, summer holidays are generally more expensive because demand is higher. Flights and hotels fill up quickly, especially in July and August. That said, value is still possible by choosing less popular resorts, travelling mid-week or booking All Inclusive, where meals and drinks are included upfront.
