Donna Laura Palace

A very basic old hotel. It has character to be sure, but needs modernization. The showers leak so much that the floor floods each time. That was a universal complaint among hotel guests. Not the biggest issue but that’s why it’s 3 stars.

Donna Laura Palace hotel is really an amazing beautiful boutique hotel. We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel last month. The hotel is located in the Prati district which is a very quiet neighbourhood, a few minutes away from all the major attractions. To get to the hotel from Fiumicino Airport we took the Leonardo Express train to Termini Station for €14. From Termini Station we had to take Metro Line A towards the direction of Battistini and got off at Lepanto. From Lepanto Station the hotel is about 10 minutes walk. By taxi from the airport you'll pay €55, and by coach shuttle bus to Termini Station you will pay about €10. From Termini Station there are also buses you can hop on to Lepanto, for example, 590, 30, 19, 87, 301. Hotel staff are absolutely amazing and very professional. They always make you feel at home. Our hotel room was very spacious, very clean, with beautiful decor and a comfy bed. My best highlight in the morning was their amazing and lovely breakfast. You get an absolute variety. You will be truly satisfied. Their restaurant also serves amazing ala carte meals. The hotel has lovely conference rooms, a Wellness area with sauna and jacuzzi. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone, families, business travellers, solos. I would like to say thank you to all their staff who were very exceptional and made us feel at home. We cannot wait to visit you again.

We selected this hotel due to its' proximity to the Stadio Olympico where we were going to watch the rugby. Most pleasingly it is only twenty five minutes walk from the stadium and likewise the same into the heart of Rome. The hotel itself is well presented, reception is small and so are the bedrooms but this is not unusual for a City centre hotel. Rooms were tidy and clean and most have balconies which is very helpful, particularly in the warm Spring period when the air conditioning is not allowed to be used (local laws apparently). Breakfast is in the basement restaurant which is unspectacular... like the food. It was clear on two mornings that the hotel could not cope with the numbers for breakfast and queues developed (especially for tea and coffee) whilst food offerings frequently ran out. Hence we did not eat any other meals there. Similarly the bar seemed to be an after thought with bottled beer being in short supply and staff not being in attendance. It was bizarre that with many in the hotel going to the rugby they did not consider it worthwhile to open the bar from lunchtime onwards on the day of the game. A big miss on their part. Overall we were very pleased with the hotel for our needs but wouldn't stay longer than a few nights.
