6 best destinations for the Easter school holidays 2027

The Easter school holidays can be a great time to get away, as long as you pick the right place.

Head somewhere too close to home, and you might get glorious spring sunshine... or spend the week watching the rain from your hotel balcony. Fly too far, and the price climbs quickly when the whole family is travelling.

The sweet spot is somewhere that combines decent Easter weather, family-friendly hotels and enough package holiday competition to keep prices sensible.

For Easter 2027, we've picked six destinations that do exactly that, from reliably warm Tenerife and Egypt to great-value family resorts in Turkey.

Best Easter family holiday destinations at a glance

Easter falls early in 2027, so you'll be travelling in late March rather than mid-April. That makes destinations with more reliable early-season warmth even more important.

  1. Tenerife, Spain: Around 22-24°C, best all-rounder

  2. Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt: Around 26-30°C, best for guaranteed heat and All Inclusive

  3. Antalya Coast, Turkey: Around 18-22°C, best for family resort value

  4. Paphos, Cyprus: Around 19-23°C, best for a combination of beaches and exploring

  5. Majorca, Spain: Around 17-21°C, best for an easy and scenic family package holiday

  6. Algarve, Portugal: Around 19-20°C, best for a mix of activities and beaches

When are the Easter school holidays in 2027?

Good Friday falls on 26th March in 2027, with Easter Monday on 29th March.

Many English local authority calendars currently show the school break running from around Friday 26th March to Friday 9th April 2027, although exact dates aren't universal. Academies and private schools can set their own term dates, so always check your child's school before booking.

How long are the Easter holidays?

For most families, the Easter school holidays are roughly two weeks.

That makes Easter particularly good for a seven, 10 or even 14-night package holiday, although travelling on the first or last few days of the break can sometimes result in higher prices.

Don't forget to check your exact school calendar before you start comparing flights.

1. Tenerife: An easy, all-round Easter family holiday

Best for: Families wanting reliable warmth without going long haul.

For the safest balance of weather, flight time and family facilities, Tenerife is the first place to look.

Southern Tenerife stays warm throughout the year. Around Costa Adeje, March temperatures typically reach around 22°C, rising to 23 -24°C in April, with relatively little rainfall.

That's not tropical heat, but it's warm enough to make sitting by the pool feel considerably more appealing than whatever the British Easter weather is doing.

Costa Adeje is probably the strongest choice when it comes to resorts. There are loads of family hotels with kids' clubs, children's pools, mini discos, and family room types. You've also got Playa del Duque and easy access to Siam Park, one of Tenerife's biggest family attractions.

Los Cristianos is a good alternative if you want a walkable resort with restaurants, beaches and plenty going on without the polished price tag of Costa Adeje.

Loads of UK flights and a competitive accommodation market mean Tenerife Easter holidays are usually good value too, especially if you book ahead.

Top tip: if your kids typically spend all day demanding drinks, snacks and ice creams from the hotel, All Inclusive might beat a cheaper self-catering package once you've totted up the total holiday cost.

2. Sharm el Sheikh: Proper heat and excellent All Inclusive value

Best for: Families who want real heat, waterparks and All Inclusive convenience.

If you want it to feel properly hot, Egypt is hard to beat. For Easter, look at Sharm El Sheikh, which typically sees temperatures climbing from around 26°C in March towards 30°C in April, with virtually no rainfall.

In other words, this is more dependable pool-and-beach territory. Plus, a lot of Red Sea hotels provide everything needed for a core-memory family holiday. Lots of them have waterparks, waterslides, kids' clubs, multiple pools, jam-packed activity timetables, and evening entertainment for all ages. Some even have a private beach for grown-ups switching off, too.

Sharm also offers snorkelling, glass-bottom boat trips and desert excursions for days when you can tear the kids away from the waterpark.

Egypt Easter holidays are particularly worth looking at on an All Inclusive basis. A package might look more expensive upfront, but it minimises spending once you arrive, and saves the daily stress about where to go out for dinner.

That's particularly useful for family Easter holidays, when paying restaurant prices for four people several times a day can quickly eat through the budget.

3. Antalya: A whole lot of family holiday for your money

Best for: Families who care more about hotel facilities than guaranteed beach weather.

Turkey takes some beating when it comes to value-packed family holidays, mostly because the resort hotels can be enormous.

For Easter, concentrate on the Antalya Coast, with resorts like Lara Beach, Belek, and Side. These areas are packed with large family hotels offering pools, waterparks, sports facilities, children's clubs and All Inclusive dining.

Because Easter 2027 falls early, Turkey isn't guaranteed to feel like peak summer. Antalya typically reaches highs around 18°C in March and around 22°C in April. You could get beautiful warm sunshine, but you could also get cooler or wetter days.

So, when booking Turkey Easter holidays, filter your favourite options by searching for resorts with things like heated outdoor pools, indoor swimming options, children's activities, and facilities that don't depend entirely on high temperatures.

When the weather does call for a beach day, the Antalya Coast is perfect bucket-and-spade territory, with shallow water and plenty of sports and activities. The resort of Side gives you even more outside the hotel, including an Old Town, Roman ruins and nearby canyons and waterfalls.

When it comes to value, hotel standards are often the big attraction in Antalya. You can often book a much more impressive resort than the same budget would buy in some other Mediterranean destinations.

The trade-off is weather. If you're willing to gamble slightly on temperatures in exchange for brilliant hotel facilities, Turkey can be one of the best budget Easter holiday options.

4. Paphos: A Mediterranean escape for warmth and exploring

Best for: Active families, warm weather, and beautiful, family-friendly beaches.

Cyprus is another strong option if you want to stay relatively close to home but increase your chances of warmer Easter weather. Average daytime temperatures rise from around 19°C in March to around 23°C in April, with eight to nine hours of sunshine per day.

Because Easter 2027 falls early, you might need to pack a jumper for the evenings. But compared with spring in northern Europe, you're definitely moving in the right direction.

For younger children, the shallow waters around Cyprus beaches are another plus. Paphos is a particularly good option if your family likes to get out and explore rather than staying all day in the hotel.

Easter falls before the main Mediterranean summer rush, so it can be worth comparing Cyprus with more obvious Canaries packages. You'll usually find everything from Self Catering apartments to Half Board and All Inclusive resorts, meaning you can match your board basis to your budget rather than automatically paying for everything upfront.

5. Majorca: An easy and scenic family Easter break

Best for: Younger families, short flights and easy resort holidays.

There's a reason Majorca has been a family favourite for generations. It's relatively quick to reach, there's an enormous package holiday market and resorts are built around exactly what families love: relaxed beaches, laidback restaurants, apartments, and child-friendly hotels.

For Majorca Easter holidays, look at resorts around Alcudia and Playa de Muro. They're particularly good for younger children thanks to long sandy beaches and shallow water.

Puerto Pollensa is a chilled-out, walkable resort with a beach, restaurants and an attractive seafront. Cala Bona is another family favourite with a smaller, quieter feel. Majorca has plenty beyond the beach too, including theme parks like Katmandu, Dinosaurland and Jungle Parc.

March temperatures typically reach around 17-18°C, while April highs are closer to 20–21°C. So think of Majorca as spring sunshine rather than guaranteed summer heat. You might get lovely pool weather, particularly towards the end of the school break, but the sea will still be chilly.

If the kids consider swimming non-negotiable, look for a hotel with a heated pool or good indoor facilities.

When it comes to price, the short flight can help keep the overall cost down, and there's huge competition between hotels and package providers.

If you're searching for cheap Easter breaks and are prepared to trade a few degrees of heat for a shorter flight and family-friendly infrastructure, Majorca is worth putting on your radar.

6. Algarve: A sunny, family-focused coastline with plenty to do

Best for: Active families, Self Catering and holidays with plenty of days out.

Portugal's Algarve is another destination where Easter works really well if your family wants more than seven days beside a swimming pool.

April daytime highs are typically around 20°C, with around eight hours of sunshine per day. March is a little cooler, at around 19°C during the day. That makes it ideal for sightseeing, beaches, walking and days out, even if swimming in the Atlantic might require a little more courage.

Look around Albufeira for the best choice of accommodation and restaurants, or Alvor for something a little more relaxed. Lagos is also a good option for beaches, scenery and pretty Old Town to explore, while Vilamoura has a smarter resort atmosphere.

The Algarve is particularly popular with kids who quickly get bored of the hotel. Days out line up everything from dolphin-watching boat trips to Ria Formosa nature trips, jeep tours, waterparks and a Zoomarine.

You'll also find plenty of apartments and Self Catering accommodation alongside traditional hotels, which can make feeding a family considerably cheaper. It's a destination where you don't need to pay for an enormous resort to keep everyone entertained.

If guaranteed heat isn't essential, the Algarve is another solid choice for budget Easter breaks.

How to find cheap Easter holidays

There's one unavoidable problem with looking for cheap Easter holidays: you're travelling when lots of other families need to travel too.

That doesn't mean bargain Easter holidays don't exist, but flexibility becomes much more important. Here are some ways to shave money off your Easter holiday.

  • Compare several departure dates. Your school might break up on a Thursday or Friday, so don't automatically travel the following morning, because that's when lots of others will too.

  • Compare the entire two-week window. Sometimes moving by a couple of days can make a noticeable difference.

  • Check different airports. If Birmingham, Manchester or London are all realistic for you, compare them.

  • Compare seven, 10 and 14 nights. Flights account for part of the package cost whether you stay for one week or two, so longer holidays can sometimes cost surprisingly little extra.

  • Think carefully about All Inclusive. For Egypt or a big Turkish resort, All Inclusive can be excellent value. But for the Algarve or Majorca, where you might spend lots of time outside the hotel, an apartment or B&B could be cheaper overall.

  • Book ahead if you have fixed requirements. School holiday availability isn't unlimited. If you need a specific hotel, room type, airport, or flight times, try to book earlier rather than relying on a last-minute price drop.

Where should you go for Easter 2027?

For the strongest combination of weather, family facilities and value, we'd put Tenerife and Egypt at the top of the list.

Tenerife wins if you want an easier flight, lots of package choice and plenty for children to do. Egypt is ideal if proper sunshine and All Inclusive value matter more.

Then there are the trade-offs. Turkey can give you a fantastic family resort for your money, but the weather is less predictable. Cyprus offers a nice balance of warmth and exploring. Majorca and the Algarve are brilliant family destinations if you're happy with pleasant spring sunshine rather than guaranteed beach heat.

The key to finding the best Easter holiday deals is deciding what matters most to your family. Because the cheapest holiday isn't so much of a bargain if everyone spends the whole week moaning that the swimming pool is freezing.
