Laico Hammamet

We stayed for 11 nights in July 2026 as a family of four (2 adults and 2 teenagers). Before travelling, we'd read some mixed reviews, so we went with realistic expectations rather than expecting a luxury 5-star experience. Overall, we had an enjoyable holiday and would consider returning, mainly because of the wonderful staff, great location and lovely pool areas. Check-in & Room We arrived around 12pm and couldn't check in until 2pm, but reception allowed us to use all the facilities while we waited. The reception area is beautiful, clean and air-conditioned, although we weren't given much information on arrival and instead found an information board with meal times and activities. Our family room was spacious with plenty of storage. We only had six hangers, so were glad we'd packed some extras. The room was clean, the fridge worked (although wasn't very cold), and housekeeping came daily to offer cleaning and fresh towels. We had a large pool-view balcony, but it only consisted of two wooden chairs, which was a little disappointing for a family room. Pools There are two large outdoor pools (one saltwater and one chlorine), both of which were clean and well maintained. There is also an indoor pool, although we didn't use it. The pool bar could have been cleaner, but the bar staff were always friendly and accommodating. The staff around the pools really made our holiday. The lifeguards were constantly helping guests find sunbeds and umbrellas, checking everyone was okay and creating such a welcoming atmosphere. A special thank you to Khaled and Nour, who were exceptional throughout our stay. Food & Drinks The restaurant staff worked incredibly hard and always kept the dining area clean despite how busy it became. There was plenty of food available, but after a few days we found it quite repetitive. As UK travellers, some of the options weren't really to our taste, although we always found something to eat including eggs, pasta, potatoes, chicken, pizza, salads, fruit, cakes and ice cream. The alcoholic drinks were very strong but, in our opinion, didn't have the nicest taste. Afternoon snacks were only available for around 1½ hours and consisted of pizza, cakes and pastries. Entertainment The daytime entertainment was excellent and one of the highlights of the holiday. There was always something happening including aqua aerobics, water polo, darts, dance classes, yoga, cocktail making and foam parties. The animation team worked tirelessly to involve everyone and deserve lots of credit. A huge thank you to Oscar, Simo, Ouday, Baloo, Weal, Ghada and Didi for their energy, enthusiasm and for making everyone feel so welcome. Unfortunately, the evening entertainment was a weak part of the hotel. It felt very low budget and aimed mainly at younger children. During our stay there was karaoke, a magic show, a White Party and a musician, but overall it felt like very little investment had gone into the evening programme. The animation team did their best with what they had, but this is an area that could definitely be improved. The amphitheatre seating is also concrete steps, which became uncomfortable, and there isn't a nearby bar. Location The location is excellent. The marina is directly opposite the hotel, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, and the Medina is around a 10-minute walk away. We enjoyed exploring the shops, visiting the small water park and nearby theme park, and watching football in the UK bar, Rovers Return. The local shopkeepers can be quite persistent, but a polite "No thank you" was enough if we weren't interested. If you do buy souvenirs, definitely haggle as prices aren't displayed and sellers will usually reduce their prices considerably. Beach The beach was a big disappointment. Although it's directly opposite the hotel, the hotel's beach bar is only a small drinks hut with no seating. During our stay there was quite a lot of seaweed, washed-up debris, twigs, jellyfish and some litter on the beach. Because of this, we only visited it twice. Overall This isn't a luxury 5-star hotel in our opinion, but if you go with realistic expectations, it's an enjoyable place to stay. The staff are genuinely outstanding and are the biggest reason we'd consider returning. The pools are lovely, the location is excellent and the daytime entertainment is brilliant. With improvements to the evening entertainment, food variety and beach facilities, this hotel could be even better.

The region is french so be prepared for continental food but not much change. If you like fruit you are ok. Meat is usually fish and then chicken on a yellow sauce, bread is for soup or sauce from food, no butter given at any meal. Full of rude arabic individuals. The waiter even confirmed he dislikes the Arabic individuals so it wasn't just us. And I will say I've been to quite a few countries and never had an issue with them. Drinks are via bottles weirdly, can't imagine how many they get through. Rooms are clean, but ants (smaller than UK ants) can be a problem. There is no normal bin in the room,.only a small bin in the toilet for sanitary products. The hotel is just opposite the marina so that's nice, a lot of restaurants there but weirdly they all serve the same foods lol. Weather is nice, pool is smaller than it looks in photos so there is a bit of towel wars. But a tip to the pool guy will get you a lounger. Would I go back, no because some individuals just ruin it (at least on my journey), hotel is average, good could be much better.
