Houda Yasmine Marina & SPA

We have had a fantastic two weeks here at Houda Yasmine! Without exception, the hotel team have been amazing, from cleaners to bar staff and everyone in between. Particular thanks go to the animation crew who work tirelessly to make sure everyone has fun throughout the day. We had our wedding anniversary whilst we were here and they made our day feel very special! Some very negative reviews had me worried before we arrived but we have only had positive experiences from the start. True, the restaurant can be very busy and some holiday makers very greedy, but you can always find something tasty to eat and the waiters ( especially Bashir) are attentive. All in all, a brilliant holiday! 😎☀️

Firstly, I would like to say that I have holidayed in Tunisia many times. But have never stayed anywhere like this. This is, at best, a 2 star hotel. Food: We are not fussy eaters and usually like to try local food this was not possible here. The food is not prepared properly, seriously overcooked and tasteless. Also we watched as one of the chefs cooking on a large grill pushed around the cooked poultry then picked up raw poultry and dropped it in the gaps. Then used the same tongs as on raw poultry and served up the cooked with them. (This explained our very upset stomachs.) There were never enough serving implements for the salads so people were using them for anything so cross contaminating the dishes, no thought here about allergies. One evening they set up a bbq which looked great, but they overcooked everything. This hotel is not catering for people from different countries. At breakfast I asked numerous times for tongs as my daughter and myself were burnt trying to get toast out. Gave me them when I was there then never saw tongs again. Bar: the staff in the lobby bar could be quite moody/rude. My husband asked for 2 beers and the barman shouted “you didn’t bring glasses back. Theres none” My husband had not had a glass, why did hotel think guests should be collecting glasses. The pool bar hardly ever had any of the re-usable plastic cups, resorted to tiny disposable then paper. In the end they were mostly using the glasses from the bar but you were expected to keep a hold and he constantly said to bring them back. The snack bar was a waste of time. Lift: there was only one, for 4 people max, working the whole time we were there. I tried the stairs but they could be dangerously dark. So could the corridor to room as sensors did not always work. Reception: they could be unhelpful. Asked for toilet light in our room could be fixed. Never happened. On more than one occasion, when I made a request, I was asked to come back in 1-2 hours and it will be sorted. Only to be told can’t do that now shift changing. Can be all smiles but do nothing. Wifi; problematical. The pool itself was fine and we always got an umbrella. The young pool guy was very helpful and worked hard, my husband saw him rescue a small child who had climbed out of the children’s pool into the deep end. Parents be aware that the children’s pool is directly by the deep end of main pool, and fence between them has a gap. Not safe. To end, I would never come back and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, even if they put the price down.
