Hotel Soho Boutique Palacio San Gabriel

A quirky old hotel in a good position near the spectacular old bridge. The room we had been allocated was on the ground floor next to the main door, you can hear all the comings and goings of guests very clearly which was no problem in the morning but not late at night, you can also hear the night staff as they are across the entrance way. The room safe was broken I was informed, so that was that ! We had a grand total of 3 cockroaches during our 2 night stay, 2 got trampled and the other managed to hitch a lift in one of the cases to our next destination as I was greeted by it when I opened the case ! Big old cobweb hanging up on the ceiling. The breakfast staff were pleasant but food was poorish with rubbery cold scrambled eggs , the potentially lovely old courtyard off the breakfast room needed a good clean. When we checked out we lost the will to complain as the lovely girl in reception was heavily pregnant and beaming about her future baby. Ronda is beautiful and we will definitely return but unfortunately not this hotel.

Really nice hotel smack in the middle of Ronda old town. Great location and very easy access to everything you need to see. Great rooms, lovely breakfast prepared fresh in a very small kitchen but recommended. Clean and very pleasant staff. The building is in fact a few hundred years old and you will love your stay. We travelled on a group of 6 on a cycle tour and nothing was a problem at all. I’m coming back .

This is a hidden gem in Ronda that we found through Rick Steves travel guide for Spain. Across the gorge in the older town, it's within easy walking distance to all Ronda sites. A super-value -- only $110 US for one night in March. Our host, Pedro, was gracious, helpful and well-informed with excellent recommendations for exploring Ronda on foot and where to eat (do go to Los Arcos, on the old town side of the bridge). Car access is a bit difficult - we were able to drop off our baggage at the hotel door before parking a 5 minute walk away at a municipal lot, which sits behind a nicely landscaped town square. You enter the lot through a one-way passage with a traffic light - kinda quirky -- but definitely worth the extra effort to stay at this special place.
