Extra pay for AC and identical breakfast
Travelled on 4 September 2022
Overall the hotel was nice, rooms were clean and personal was great. However, I was very surprised finding out that air conditioner is not included in the price. We had to pay 5€ per day extra. Since in the high season they always have 32 degrees, of course everyone took AC, so it felt not fair that they make extra business on this. Also, breakfast were identical every day and completely nothing warm (there were eggs and some sausages, but they were cold).

It's a very nice and clean hotel near the Airport. The family Is so nice and helpful. It's great to stay and visit Kreta with a car wich you can also Rent directly at the hotel. Don't forget to visit the bar nearby!
Very friendly

We didn't actually pick this hotel originally, it was a substitute due to our hotel overbooking itself ....on purpose....common practice apparently grrr! Anyway, we weren't terribly excited to be given this hotel, as photos on web weren't particularly enticing, didn't really do it justice, however we were pleasantly surprised! The pool area was much nicer than we'd expected, very clean, plenty of sun beds, great views etc. Rooms are basic, as expected but clean, sheets and towels changed regularly. Kitchen area minimal but we weren't planning on eating in. We had great balcony which was 'L' shaped, so that was a bonus. Nikos (& his brother) - Front of House were delightful, very hospitable, helpful, gave us maps, advice on things like buying cheaper bus tickets from supermarket down the road. We went as a family, only thing against it perhaps is that it is very quiet, no music by pool, no entertainment etc so for a family, it is possibly too sleepy. Pool area generally very quiet which is of course also a bonus if just looking to totally switch off but our children did get a bit restless as there was no opportunity for them to make any friends etc. The nearby beach was beautiful, lovely sun beds and great restaurant that sells the best pizzas! However sea is really rough! Shops, restaurants about 10/15 minute walk down the road, plenty of atmosphere along this strip. Breakfast was good, offering cereals, bread/jam, salami, salad, multiple fruits and great coffee! Terrace where you eat is lovely. Aqua Plus is well worth a visit, that was the highlight of our children's holiday and it was only half an hour drive away. We hired a car from down the road (make sure it has 'free kms' and is 'fully insured' we were told by Nikos). In summary, we had a very pleasant stay at The Poseidon, really no negatives but for us, it was just a too quiet, I'd say more suitable for couples, older generation who are after a bit of peace and quiet.
Good Choice

Super deal. Rooms were clean and cleaned every day. Staff was very friendly. The beach is about a 10 minutes walk away. Taxi, bus stop and car rental right in front of the hotel! Breakfast okay. There were ashtrays on the balcony, good for us smokers! All in all a great bargain!
Very good family business offside mass tourism
Travelled on 16 September 2016
This hotel was a lucky punch for us as we are not the regular all inclusive, mass tourism, party travelers. The hotel is close to the beach (300-500) meters and just far enough to be in a quiet area. Though it doesn't provide a whole bunch of luxury, it provided all we needed. It is basic but clean the staff is very attentive and helpful. The Bus stop is right out front, although I suggest a walk to the nearby supermarket to get a ticket to the city and one back since it is less expensive this way. Hiraklion isn't a 15 min ride away, which is way worth plenty visits. Outback of the hotel you will find a pool area. During our stay in September it was predominantly visited by couples and folks who were planning their own activities outside the hotels that animate their guests all day. If you seek information or tours of the island, you are provided with information at the front desk and are able to book some tours with local agencies at the front desk. We had all we needed as were able to cook in our room which had a refrigerator and even air conditioning (separately available). We highly recommended this hotel. For all who enjoy their freedom to plan each of their vacation days themselves.
