Hotel Jaime I

This hotel isn't for you unless you speak Spanish. The food is all Spanish food and all signs etc are written in Spanish. Overall the hotel was very clean. Should have been informed pre arrival as roadworks directly outside we had 8 hours a day of drilling and banging so couldn't relax. The view from the balcony was disappointing. Lastly I took my own water bottle into restaurant as wasn't told I couldn't. The male receptionist (not jose) then came screaming and shouting at me threatened to kick me out of hotel this was extremely embarrassing and as they don't speak English and I don't speak Spanish I should brush up on my mind reading skills disgusting way to treat a solo travelling guest

We got separated from our friends and went into this hotel to see if we could use a phone or use the internet. We had our phones but for some reason we couldn't get a signal. The hotel receptionist was most rude and unhelpful. Because we weren't staying he refused to help us. We felt stranded and a little lost (being OAP's). We were certainly becoming distressed. After being told in an abrupt manner that there was a payphone outside we went to use this. No light in the box and no instructions on how to use the phone. Luckily at the time or friends found us. I was most disappointed that the receptionist refused to help us especially as we offered to pay for the phone call.

This is a 3 star hotel without great strident but very well located, very correct and perfectly organized. I went on an IMSERSO trip and was very pleasantly surprised that on the first day you were assigned a table for the entire stay which resulted in no queues or problems at lunch or dinner. The food could not be said to be extraordinary in variety and quality but was simple and well cooked. In short a simple but very nice hotel. The only but and it is not the fault of the hotel, that the avenue Jaime I is in the works and it is a bit complicated to access if you go with your car to the parking.
