**Extremely disappointing stay – persistent harassment and serious hygiene concerns** We arrived in Tunisia feeling excited about our holiday. Unfortunately, that optimism disappeared very quickly. To begin with, our room was tired, shabby and looked nothing like the photographs advertised on the Love Holidays website. We arrived very late due to a flight delay, and the staff kindly arranged some food for us, so initially we thought they were very welcoming. Sadly, our experience soon changed. At least six male members of staff repeatedly harassed me throughout our stay. Despite me clearly saying “No” and explaining that I was already there with my partner, the unwanted attention continued. By the third day, I was genuinely afraid to make eye contact with some of them because any interaction was taken as encouragement. It became exhausting and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. This behaviour came from several members of staff, including Mahar from Guest Relations, Amir, one of the pool waiters, who regularly walked around spitting on the ground, as well as waiters and the barbecue chef at the beach bar. The attention was relentless, and when they were rejected, they clearly didn’t like it. No woman should have to spend her holiday constantly avoiding hotel staff because they refuse to respect boundaries. However, the most shocking part of our stay was the complete disregard for guest safety and hygiene. While we were by the swimming pool, someone defecated in the water, leaving two large floating stools. I immediately alerted the lifeguard, expecting the pool to be evacuated and closed. Instead, he simply fetched a net and attempted to scoop the faeces out while people continued swimming around him. Nobody was told to get out of the pool. The pool was not closed, disinfected or treated. It was simply business as usual. Even more alarming, a family who understood what I was saying got out of the water in disgust and told us they had only moved to that pool because exactly the same thing had happened earlier in another pool at the hotel. Again, guests had not been informed, the pool had not been closed, and people had continued swimming completely unaware that the water had been contaminated with human faeces. We immediately reported the incident to the main manager at reception. His response was simply, “I’ll phone the pool staff.” As far as we could see, nothing whatsoever was done. Thankfully, we were due to leave a few hours later. This holiday was ruined by persistent harassment from staff and what I consider to be a completely unacceptable response to a serious public health issue. I would not return to this hotel and certainly could not recommend it to anyone, particularly women travelling as couples or families concerned about hygiene and guest safety.
