Do not waste your money!!!So Much Potential, But Sadly Let Down by Poor Cleanliness

**So Much Potential, But Sadly Let Down by Poor Cleanliness** This hotel has so much potential because the location is excellent. It's only a short walk into town (despite the steep hill), which makes it a great base. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The cleanliness throughout the hotel was shocking. The pool area was filthy, with grime covering the pool walls, and the poolside showers looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. There were bin bags of rubbish left around the pool, and the sunbeds were thick with dirt. It was also very concerning to watch the bar staff wiping and cleaning plastic cups with dirty rags before reusing them. We stayed in Block IV, which had no air conditioning at all, making the room unbearably hot. To make matters worse, the room was full of ants. On our very first day, I noticed people walking around the pool with black, dirty feet from the condition of the surrounding areas, which says everything about the standard of cleanliness. I genuinely don't understand how anyone could enjoy staying here unless they have very low expectations. It's such a shame because, with proper investment, maintenance and cleaning, this hotel could be a fantastic place to stay. Sadly, in its current condition, I would not return or recommend it.

Good for a short self.catering break

We came for a 4 night stay self catering and overall it was a good experience. The apartment was dated, but it was clean and equipped with the things that we needed for our stay. It was plenty big enough for the four of us, with the biggest balcony I've experienced on a holiday. The view was beautiful and it was shaded all day, which was perfect for us. The shower was very powerful, which meant it took us a while to learn how not to flood the floor, but we got there in the end, and the air conditioning was amazing. Housekeeping was sparse, but i assumed that was because we were always in the apartment in the morning. They did come around with clean towels for us a couple of times, but we were there for short time, so it was fine. The pool area was great. Not over crowded and no dreaded sunbed wars. We never went down to the pool before 2pm and always got a sunbed. Plenty of shady spots and umbrellas too. The hotel was about a 10 minute walk to the beach and restaurants, which yes is up hill on the way back, but that's no secret and it's not too bad if you use the tradesman entrance into the hotel. But the hillside location means you get a nice view every morning, so I it's a trade I'm happy to make. Overall, it was the break we needed and we had a good experience. Would we go back? Maybe, wouldn't rule it out. Cala Llonga is lovely, if not a little expensive, but may look at other, more central hotels.

A Disappointing Stay Despite a Lovely Location

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this hotel wasn’t going to live up to even modest expectations. While the receptionist was friendly and welcoming, the overall experience quickly declined from there. Room & Cleanliness Our room was extremely basic and, unfortunately, far from clean. On first glance it looked small and dated, but with daylight came the real issues: • Damp, mould, and stains throughout • A wardrobe cupboard that smelled strongly of damp and was unusable • A large stain on the wall that grew over the week, clearly caused by water damage • Air conditioning that only worked in one room • A shower that alternated between a weak dribble and a pressure cannon, soaking the entire bathroom • Housekeeping that barely existed — our room was “cleaned” twice in seven days, and even then only towels were replaced and one bed was made By mid‑week we were emptying our own bins and had to request toilet roll from reception. Bar Service & Drinks The bar system was one of the most frustrating parts of the stay. • Only one bar for the entire hotel • Often was only one staff member serving, who was often more focused on stocking crisps or chatting than pouring drinks - indeed pouring drinks seemed to be a massive inconvenience to them • Regular 10–20 minute queues • Despite being a family of three, only two drinks could be poured at a time, meaning two of us had to queue together every time • Not enough seating during evening ‘entertainment’ — guests were sitting on sunbeds or even bringing balcony chairs downstairs Water outside restaurant hours was either lukewarm from the bar or purchased from a vending machine. Food Quality Food was, unfortunately, one of the biggest let‑downs. • Breakfast eggs were cold and overcooked; sausages undercooked • Lunch and dinner options were repetitive, mainly fish with one or two alternatives • Cold chips, stale bread, and questionable “chicken” nuggets • Ice cream was only available until the first batch ran out and not replenished meaning if you wasn’t one of the first into the restaurant you wasn’t getting any • No food available for late arrivals • The snack bar (once we found it) offered decent chips and hotdogs, but no information was provided anywhere about opening times or food options available We ended up eating out most days — and thankfully Cala Llonga has some fantastic restaurants such as Flippers, La Vela Pizza, and Mala Sangre. Pool Area The pool area was surprisingly well maintained considering it doubled as the hotel’s only communal space. Staff worked hard early each morning to clear away cups, rubbish, and whatever had been thrown into the pool overnight. This was one of the few consistently positive aspects. Check‑Out Experience At check‑out we were told the luggage room was full, leaving us with two options: • Leave our cases in an often unmanned reception area open to the public • Keep them with us for the eight‑hour wait until our transfer Neither option felt secure or practical. Not an Isolated Experience While waiting for our transfer, we spoke to another family who had almost identical complaints. It became clear our experience wasn’t a one‑off — the issues seem systemic. Overall Verdict If you’re looking for: • Long queues for drinks • Below‑par food • Rude or uninterested bar staff • A damp, poorly maintained room …then this hotel might be for you. For everyone else: avoid it. Two stars or not, we’ve stayed in far better hostels. The One Saving Grace Cala Llonga itself is absolutely lovely — beautiful beachfront, great restaurants, friendly locals, and excellent transport links. We’d absolutely recommend visiting the area, just choose one of the many other hotels nearby.
