Creta Mare

I stayed at Crete Mare probably about 20 total nights between my visits to plakias in 2021 and 2022. The rooms are very clean, the showers are a little bigger than most in crete and have glass enclosures that prevent the whole bathroom from getting wet. The option for a queen bed is nice, especially because it’s an actual queen bed and not two doubles stacked next to each other. The bed was very comfortable. The service is super friendly. The location is nice, with a calm beach right in front cause the water is protected by rocks to slow the sometimes wind-blown sea. The wifi could perhaps be a little stronger. The view tops everything off though. Beautiful views from every room, and close enough to hear the ocean at night. I can’t speak for the breakfast, because I usually didn’t get up early enough for it, but the breakfast next-door at nikos on the rocks serves breakfast all day, and is very good. One other benefit is that nikos bar (next door) stays open later than most other bars in plakias (if your into that, which I was). Service at nikos is also excellent.

We left Rethymon early to stay in lovely Plakias and booked in to Creta Mare Hotel. We were not disappointed as it's a real gem. Joanna was charming and our room was perfect. The sea view was gorgeous and the beach just a few steps away. We only had board only and didn't sample the breakfasts - they certainly looked good though! Happy to come again any time.

Just returned after a 2 week stay at Creta Mare Hotel, what a fabulous place. Just been completely refurbished, so the current photos in the picture do not do it justice. The room was clean and comfortable and view from balcony is amazing. The hosts could not do enough for you, nothing was too much trouble. Location is a very short walk to main restaurants round harbour and the large sandy beach. The hotel itself looks over a smaller pebble beach with sunbeds etc provided. Can't praise this place enough - we will definitely be back!
