Do not stay here. Extremely disappointing experience at a hotel that claims to be 4 stars.
We booked a very expensive room at 1K Paris specifically because it was our final night in Paris and we needed a comfortable space to pack, as well as reliable air conditioning during a heat wave. The room we booked was advertised as 20–25 square meters, and the photos on both the hotel website and Chase showed a much larger, updated room. When we arrived after 8pm, we immediately noticed the AC was not running. There was already a fan placed on one of the nightstands, which made it clear this was not a new issue. The room itself was significantly smaller than advertised (closer to 16 square meters), looked nothing like the photos, the window was broken and would not close, and the room was unbearably hot. We immediately went to the front desk. After contacting management, we were told there was “nothing they could do.” We asked at minimum if someone could repair the AC since it was nearly 100 degrees in Paris, and the only solution offered was bringing us another fan. A second front desk employee came to inspect the room and agreed that the AC was broken and the window was broken. He told us he would recommend a full refund because there were no other rooms available. He mentioned the possibility of moving us into a different room if another guest had not yet checked in, but then disappeared. No follow-up, no update, no solution. Instead, the original employee simply brought up a fan and left. Later that night, after dinner, we returned around 11pm and were offered “free drinks” as compensation. At that point, after hours of dealing with a room that was extremely hot and uncomfortable, all we wanted was a place where we could sleep. We then saw the same employee checking in another guest into what appeared to be another available room, despite telling us there were no solutions. We explained that because the hotel refused to repair the AC, refused to move us, and left us with a broken window in extreme heat, we would be requesting a full refund since we had no realistic option to relocate that late at night. He agreed. The next morning at checkout, we were told there would be no refund. Instead, we were offered free breakfast and told that maybe if we wrote a negative review and disputed the charge, upper management might change their mind. This experience was not about expecting perfection. We could have overlooked the room being smaller than advertised. What is unacceptable is paying hundreds of euros for a room that does not provide the most basic advertised amenity, being left in a dangerously uncomfortable room during a heat wave, and having management refuse to provide any meaningful solution. To make matters worse, the floor was randomly soaking wet in one area, and the management team refused to speak with us despite being told about the situation. A hotel’s true quality is shown by how it handles problems. Unfortunately, 1K Paris showed a complete lack of accountability, poor communication, and no interest in taking care of guests. Save your money and stay somewhere else.
