Your flight – before you travel

Most hotels provide cots for infants and will usually prepare one if an infant is included on the booking. If there isn't a cot in your room when you arrive, speak to reception and they may be able to arrange one for you.

Please note, cots are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so availability can't be guaranteed. If you'd like to check in advance, we recommend contacting your hotel directly before you travel.

Bringing your own travel cot:
Many families choose to bring their own travel cot for familiarity and comfort. Some airlines allow travel cots to be checked in as part of your infant's equipment allowance, but policies vary between airlines.

Check your airline's infant travel policy before you head to the airport to confirm their latest rules. You can find this information via our airline partner page.

At UK airports:
Luggage check-in counters usually open two to three hours before your flight leaves. For flights over six hours in duration, we recommend arriving at least three hours early to drop off your bags.

Most counters close 45 minutes before departure, so make sure you arrive with plenty of time.

At your destination airport:
Luggage check-in counters typically open two hours before your return flight and close 45 minutes before departure.

Night-before luggage drop-off:
Some airlines and airports allow you drop off your bags the evening before your flight. This option isn't available in all airports, so it's best to check directly with your airline to see if it's possible for your journey.

Important timing information
Airlines can change their check-in times, so always check your timings with your airline before you travel.

Most airlines now accept digital documents and boarding passes, so you usually won't need to print anything. You can keep everything on your phone and show it to staff when needed.

Ryanair:
Ryanair is fully digital, so for most destinations you'll need to access your boarding pass via the Ryanair app. Make sure you've downloaded the app before heading to the airport to avoid any issues.
